Jim Whipple is the Access Compliance Officer for the Mayor's Office on Disability, having served in that position since December of 2002. His primary responsibility is to review City funded construction projects for compliance with the ADA, along with state and local access regulations.
Mr. Whipple has been a building inspector for a total of 29 years, with the last 23 of those years specializing in accessibility enforcement. He previously worked for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection where he was instrumental in the formation of a city- wide disability access enforcement program to respond to complaints from the public. Additional previous experience studying architecture and working for architects has proved invaluable in providing extensive knowledge of construction drawings and materials and methods of construction. Mr. Whipple is aCertified Access Specialist CASp and has obtained certification in many other areas of specialty in construction inspection and plan review.
