Dawn Anderson

Ms. Anderson is a licensed architect with certifications as ADA Coordinator, Accessibility Specialist in California (CASp), ICC Accessibility Plan Reviewer and Inspector, ICC Combination Building Inspector, and OSHPD Inspector of Record.  Ms. Anderson serves as a Senior Building Inspector and Access Compliance Officer in the Architectural Access Division of the Mayor’s Office on Disability.  Prior to her service at the City and County of San Francisco, Dawn has represented the interests of owners, developers, design professionals, and builders in the private sector as an architect specializing in accessibility.

Ms. Anderson’s primary responsibilities are conducting plan reviews and inspections of city owned, operated, leased, or funded facilities. Projects include alterations and new construction of large affordable housing developments, civic buildings, and various outdoor environments. Her duties also include interdepartmental advisement, facility surveys, programmatic and scoping analysis, technical assistance, and inspections for permanent construction and temporary facilities in an effort to remove architectural barriers and promote civic engagement.  As directed, Dawn supports the City’s on-going programmatic and facility compliance efforts through self-evaluation and transition planning to confirm public facilities and programmatic needs are addressed.

Dawn participates in the development of building standards and serves on California’s Building Standards Commission Sub-committees for Accessibility and Building & Fire. She speaks nationally on the application of accessibility law and regulations, and best practices to incorporate access and reduce risk.
