Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance
Proposed Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance (FFWO) Rules:
The Office of Labor Standards Enforcement released Proposed Rules Implementing the Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance (as amended) on May 27, 2022.
- A public hearing on the proposed FFWO Rules will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. PST in City Hall, Room 408.
- OLSE will be accepting public comments on the proposed FFWO Rules through June 16, 2022, 5:00PM PST.

Overview
Employers with 20 or more employees are covered by the law. Employees of these employers are covered by the law if they are (1) employed in San Francisco, (2) have been employed for six months or more by their current employer, and (3) work at least eight hours per week on a regular basis. Covered employees may request the flexible or predictable working arrangement to assist with care for:
Within 21 days of an employee’s request for a flexible or predictable working arrangement described above, an employer must meet with the employee regarding the request. The employer must respond to an employee’s request within 21 days of that meeting. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed the Family Friendly Workplace Ordinance on October 8, 2013. The law became operative on January 1, 2014. |
