San Francisco Paid Sick Leave

You earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours that you work in San Francisco.

  • You begin to earn sick leave on your first day of work;
  • You may use this sick leave starting on your 90th day of employment;
  • You may use sick leave for illness or for a medical appointment;
  • You may use sick leave for your own care or to care for specified family members or a designated person.

Among other requirements, the lactation location must be close to your work area, shielded from public view, and safe and clean.  The lactation location may not be a bathroom.
