Employees that perform work in San Francisco, including part-time and temporary employees, must be paid no less than the San Francisco minimum wage, currently $16.32 per hour. Note: A small number of "Government Supported Employees" are subject to a minimum wage rate of $14.44. That rate will increase to $15.03 on July 1, 2022. Click here for more information. In 2003, San Francisco voters passed a local minimum wage, becoming the first local jurisdiction to pass a minimum wage rate higher than the federal or state minimum wage. In 2014, San Francisco voters passed a new initiative to increase the local minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by July 1, 2018, and to adjust the wage rate each July 1 thereafter based on the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index. |
