APRIL 24, 2013                                                                   REGULAR MEETING

                The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:30 p.m.

 

PRESENT:             Commissioners Mazzucco, Marshall, Chan, Kingsley, Loftus

ABSENT:               Commissioners DeJesus, Turman

 

(Commissioner Marshall arrived at 5:48 p.m.)

 

CONSENT CALENDAR

-              SFPD/OCC’s 1st Quarter 2013 Status Report on General Orders/Policy    Proposals

 

                Motion by Commissioner Chan, second by Commissioner Kingsley.  Approved 5-0.

                Clyde spoke in regards to tasers.

               

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

a.            Chief’s Report

-              Review of recent activities

 

                Deputy Chief Biel, for Chief Suhr who is in Washington D.C., spoke in regards to recent events and the recent Boston Marathon bombing.  Chief Biel also invited the Commissioners to attend the 5K walk for March of Dimes Walk for Babies this coming Saturday.

               

b.            OCC Director’s Report

-              Review of recent activities

 

                Director Hicks spoke of recent outreach events and of the recent officer-involved shooting.

-              Commissioners’ Reports

 

                Commissioner Mazzucco commended the Chief and the Department in light of the recent Boston Marathon bombing and of attending the recent town hall meeting regarding the officer-involved shooting on DeHaro.

 

d.            Commission Announcements and scheduling of items identified for consideration at future Commission meetings

 

                Inspector Monroe announced that May 1st and 8th the meeting will be at City Hall.

 

                Commissioner Mazzucco asked that the District Meeting be in Taraval and that the election of officers be on May 22nd.

 

                Commissioner Loftus asked that an update in regards to DNA testing of rape kits.

PUBLIC EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:  Chief of Police

Review of findings and Chief’s decision to return officers to duty following officer-involved shootings (OIS Case Nos. 13-004 & 13-005)

                Motion by Commissioner Kingsley, second by Commissioner Marshall for non disclosure.  Approved 5-0.

                Motion by Commissioner Chan, second by Commissioner Marshall. 

Approved 5-0.
