AUGUST 7, 2013 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room
400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:35 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Mazzucco, Turman, Marshall, DeJesus, Chan, Kingsley
ABSENT: Commissioner Loftus
(Commissioner DeJesus arrived at 5:45 p.m.)
CONSENT CALENDAR

PUBLIC COMMENT

Motion by Commissioner Kingsley, second by Commissioner Marshall.
Approved 5-0.
PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION
- Officer James Cunningham
- Lieutenant Gaetano Caltagirone
- Officer Antonette Valenzuela
- Officer Derrick Lee
Commissioner Mazzucco described the actions of the officers during the Asiana
Airlines plane crash on July 6, 2013.
Chief Suhr spoke in regards to the incident involving Officers Cunningham,
Valenzuela, Lee, and Lt. Caltagirone and presented the officers with Certificates of Merit
and Appreciation.
Supervisor Katy Tang presented the Officers with Certificates of Honor on behalf
of the Board of Supervisors.
Deputy Chief Schmitt addressed the Commission and commended the officers.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ms. Paulette Brown spoke in regards to the murder of her son on August 14,
2006 and stated that it will be seven years since his death and there is still no closure
and asked why the individuals who killed her son are still not arrested.
Mary Bailey spoke in regards to crime in her area but there is still a need for
more hardcore law enforcement.
Clyde spoke about attending National Night Out.

Chief Suhr spoke in regards to recent shootings in the city. He also spoke of
hiring 15 new service aides, recent arrests made, kayaking trip in Sausalito, motorize
skills competition, and National Night Out. Mission Gun Buy Back tomorrow at Mission
and Capp Streets. The Chief also spoke regarding the heightened alert in and around
the consulates.
Sergeant Crudo, Internal Affairs Division, presented the 2nd Quarter 2013 FDRB
and OIS Summary.
b. OCC Director’s Report
- Review of recent activities
Director Hicks spoke in regards to National Night Out and that next week she
will present the July Comprehensive Report.

Inspector Monroe announced that there will be no meeting on August 21st , and
the district meeting will be in the Central District, Gordon J. Lau Elementary School, 950
Clay Street.
