FEBRUARY 12, 2014 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room
400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Mazzucco, Turman, Marshall, DeJesus, Chan, Kingsley
ABSENT: Commissioner Loftus
(Commissioner Turman was excused at 7:00 p.m.)
PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION
- Retired Lieutenant Troy H. Dangerfield, Sr.
Chief Suhr presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Retired Lieutenant
Dangerfield, Sr. Commissioner Kim Shree Maufus spoke of the accomplishments of Lt.
Dangerfield and read letters from Senator Feinstein and the Board of Supervisors and
Assemblyman Tom Ammiano.
Retired Lieutenant Dangerfield addressed the audience.
Commissioner Shorter, President of Commission for Status of Women,
presented Lieutenant Dangerfield with a Certificate of Commendation.
Retired Lieutenant Tapia spoke and commended Lt. Dangerfield.
Retired Officer Arlene Drummer addressed the audience and commended Lt.
Dangerfield for his help while she was going though the Academy.

Proposals
Motion by Commissioner Marshall, second by Commissioner Kingsley.
Approved 6-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jakkee Bryson spoke of a hearing set for March 6th in regards to a dangerous dog
incident and commended Captain Cherniss for a job well done at the Tenderloin.
Ace Washington spoke of problems with the Department in his community and
discussed concerns about abuse of power in the Western Addition.
Marty Halloran, POA President, announced that he has been voted as President
and thanked the membership for voting for him and stated that he will maintain an
open dialogue with the Commission to better serve the membership of the Department.

- Presentation of the Secure Communities Monthly Audit, July – December 2013
Chief Suhr announced that there were two pedestrian fatalities since the last
Commission meeting and two shootings in the Western Addition and the Bayview. The
Chief also announced that the Chinese Parade will be on Saturday and invited all the
Commissioners.
Captain Connolly and Gordon Brussow presented the Secure Communities
Monthly Audit.

- Review of recent activities
- Presentation of the OCC’s Statistical Reports & Summary of Cases received in
January 2014, Mediation of Complaints in January 2014, and Adjudication of
Sustained Complaints in January 2014
Director Hicks reported on recent activities including attending the Black History
Month Celebration at City Hall.
Director Hicks also presented the Statistical Reports & Summary of Cases
received in January, Mediation of Complaints in January 2014 and Adjudication of
Sustain Complaints in January 2014.

Commissioner Mazzucco stated that he spoke at the Bay Area Liaison Group in
regards to politics and police in San Francisco.
Commissioner Chan stated that the next CIT class is on February 24th to the 27th
at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park.
d. Commission Announcements and scheduling of items identified for
consideration at future Commission meetings
Inspector Monroe announced that there will be no meeting on the 19th . The
District Meeting will be at Grattan Elementary School on February 26th , at 6:00 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jakkee Bryson asked that the Police Commission push for building safety
through SF Safe or something like that so that tenants can form public safety
committees to educate the public as to what can be done when crime is committed
against them.
