4.      Preparation for Meeting with Supervisor Sophie Maxwell

Friday, June 9th, 12-1pm we will meet with Supervisor Maxwell to discuss MOU, plan for hearing and next steps

  1. Setting the agenda:  She will want us to have some tough questions for her to ask.   *Discuss MOE and that the point is to get agreement on MOE (Karen) – any questions/comments? (Show her outreach tools)

*Explain we want to brief SFHA prior to hearing - likes/dislikes

*Calendar of Events/Timeline – she contacts SFHA to inform about MOE and hearing, she receives his response and forwards it to us, Sophie and ATF reconnect?

*Sophie’s advanced meeting with SFHA

*Hearing with SFHA - To what extent should we reference MOU? Do you need any support from us in the vein of getting letters from our directors (DPH, Environmental Health, DBI, City Atty) and what should the tone be?  Who else should be on the agenda?  What committee is this going before?  We intend to brief other committee members? Do you have any concerns?  If backpeddling occurs, what role should ATF take.  Frame as the health issue it is for children.

Other questions for Sophie:  How much does she know about City Atty’s work (14% vacancy at Oakdale).

Should not be back peddling by SFHA; already agreed upon. – do you want any background info on that?

Should we highlight a success story?

Informal Questions to SFHA (in advance)

Sophie writes to Mr. Fortner- we are sending you MOU, please respond in writing by x/x/x.

Have you have read the MOU? What is your overall feeling about it?  What specifically do you like/not like?  Is anything missing that should be in it?

Who are people taking the training and what’s their role? Acknowledge them.

Formal Questions (at hearing)

Do you agree with the expectations?

Next hearing & what we hope to hear by then

  1. Purpose of hearing: To make expectations clear and publicly known; Agree to MOU and agree to work with us; POWER or HERC could testify supportively (GreenAction, POWER, Housing Rights Committee), mend relationship between SFHA and HERC.
