MINUTES

I. Involvement in Planning for AAE National Conference

Stephanie updated on her attendance at the AAE National Conference Steering Committee Meeting on November 17th.   Meeting will be July 18th-20th

Offering CEs, 2 day course and conference.  $300 to table, can request waiver.

Who do we think would benefit from attending:

¨ Anjali will ask Karen about options for using exam funding for potential exam candidates, retakes, conference attendance, course.  Might want to at least consider participants in the Kaiser grant.  Could we ask

How do we choose the candidates?

Looking for speakers for the following topics:

·        Would like to have a breakout session on working with Asian and Latino populations.  Gail sent some names to them via email.  Would be a 1.5 hour talk on the 18th.

¨ Can recommend Helen Lu (Gloria will email), or Rita Lam (Gail), or Gail Tang

·        Patients assistance programs – drug companies are only thing we can think of.

·        Traditional Chinese medicines (herbal, acupuncture, etc.)

We agreed we can spread the word and encourage them to get the funding to attend.

Gail provided feedback to AAE which Jan Tippet said she would write a letter to the AAE Board about re: modifying the exam.

¨ Would like to request 5 spaces to attend conference for free

II. SF Asthma Network

Gloria said that she feels the SFAN meetings are important and brings together key stakeholders.  Need to keep up our momentum. Keep consistent timeline (First Friday in May, first Friday in October).

Contribution for providing ongoing education around asthma.  Feel like people appreciate it, enjoy getting together

More time for networking and sharing.

Keep breakouts at tables

Location was fine and parking was easy.

KP is still a viable option, just need better table set up, could apply for a grant for the food

Could rotate locations

Give fewer CMEs and end at 3pm, one less speaker
