Planning Committee Minutes

May 7, 2008

 

Present:  Karen Cohn, Stephanie Manfre, Gloria Thornton, Marie Hoemke (on phone), Sue Watson (on phone)

 

  1. Fiscal Matters
    1. General Fund being spent down- Breathe California contract almost spent.  Karen will write end of year report to BOS and lay the ground work for an add-back request.
    2. Re: add back- we must be cautious and discrete about what we ask for.  Should focus on disparities, which we are already beginning to address.  Matches focus of clinical work.  Another thought is media and education for community (important to develop relationship with media). Need to brainstorm how to present technical piece/message to media.
    3. ARC, Inc. has purchased 2 copies of Unnatural Causes
    4. KP/CPMC grants applied for, pending
    5. CAFA applied, will hear back in June

 

  1. World Asthma day
    1. Marie asked if maps presented at WAD can be printed 8 ½ by 11 and handed out- Karen has PDF copies of SFHA, Williams Schools, Asthma rate map.  Others came from DPH- HDMT website. Marie would like the maps to be handed out to the Board of Education during public session.
    2. Media turnout good- will have to build upon for add-back request
    3. Rajiv at DPH pleased with report card, liked detailed focus on healthy housing, social determinants of health

 

  1. Charity Care/BHSF
    1. Local requirement for hospitals to participate and report to community on charity care.- they are very interested in ATF work

    3. ATF election/implementation of by-laws/planning quarterly meeting schedule
    4. Committee schedules
