Monthly Meeting

6/9/08

 

Attendees:

Gloria Thornton, Anjali Nath, Vince Fabrice, Dennis Cruz, Sue Watson, Amy Dietz, Marie Hoemke, Peg Strub, Stephanie Manfre, Karen Cohn, Neil Gendel

 

Minutes were reviewed but approval will be postponed until September meeting

Minutes will be modified.  For future minutes will make general references and not name people.  Peg motioned to approve minutes, Amy seconded.  Unanimous approval of minutes with specified modifications.

 

 

Modifications to agenda:

Resignations need to be enforced.

Anjali will check in with Natasha as her absences require her seat to be resigned and ATF would like to assign an different role – to be discussed in Planning Committee.

Announcements

Asthma Report Card has been corrected and copies are available.

Gloria and Karen testified at supervisor Maxwell’s hearing at Government Oversight Committee – Healthy People 2010 goals, wants budgets to be prioritized around health.  Had a good amount of support.  Advocated for Health Commission meetings to be public on TV as all others.  

 

ATF Fiscal Matters, General Fund Add-Back

Detailed expenditure report was submitted to Supervisor McGoldrick (distributed as handout; available upon request).

KBLX and other stations are airing our PSAs

Members will coordinate to determine who can attend in person meetings with Supervisors and who can speak at the hearing on June 19th.

SFHP can take on projects but may not be able to offer specified pools of funding. (i.e. print ads, materials, etc.)

ATF Members will meet on June 12th, 1:30pm at City Hall North Light Court

 

Grants

Grants have been submitted to Kaiser and CPMC

CPMC is holding a dinner for applicants on Monday, June 23rd to represent ATF

ATF members can attend, please RSVP to Stephanie

 

Implementation of By-laws

POLL ATF Members about new proposed meeting schedule

Committee Meetings, 4th Mondays at DPH, 4th floor

Schools Committee – 12:00-1:30

Planning 1:30-3:30

Clinical 3:30-5:00

 

ATF Meetings – Quarterly at City Hall Rm 278

 

On months where no ATF Monthly Meeting, committee meetings will be held at 

On months where ATF Monthly Meeting is being held all meetings will be at City Hall

Environmental Committee Meeting will still meet monthly but will not meet until September. 

Anjali will send out a calendar of meetings for the year

 

Gloria was voted unanimously to continue as the ATF Chair.

 

RAMP CEED Grant

Only one of 18 centers of excellence to focus on asthma to be funded by CDC. Looking at eliminating disparities.  RAMP will focus on outer levels of model. 

To reduce environmental triggers in homes, outdoor air, asthma management in schools and child care settings, improve culturally competent clinical care, reducing asthma disparities in African American and Latino communities.  Bay Area region focus.

 

Legacy Grants to focus on one of five goal areas.  Should be new projects based on current needs assessments.  Can compliment an existing project but not continue a project.  Should be part of a strategy for looking at systems change.

 

BVHP Health Shuttle

Routes, map, schedule and brochures are ready to go.

Taxi vouchers are the next part of the project.
