Meeting Notes/Decisions

Desired Outcome

Introductions & Sign In

Facilitator:  Karen Cohn                                Recorder:  Anjali Nath

1.      Review Minutes & Follow up items

5.      What’s in place with Housing Authority?

·        SFHA has and are using 2 cameras; Karen running into roadblocks in purchasing a 3rd camera.  She is poised to make a purchase in July for next Fiscal Year.

·        N. Boyd has agreed to allow camera project to be featured in ATF WAD vignette.  Allowing to film SFHA using camera and tenants.  Next step: we provide input into treatment form to

·        Vendor is Turn Here (turnhere.com) who produces Internet Video, advertising through internet through high quality video.  Our finished product can be a DVD geared to policy makers.  ATF Ad Hoc Media Committee decided on doing 5 vignettes focused on ATF initiatives themed “Agents of change.”  Ideas: mold hasn’t come back, how it worked before, now we are able to eliminate issues the first time, ultimately saves time and money

·        Karen asked what would be our input?

·        Suggestions:  Stills that show units, before and after, Property manager and tenant talking – this is great, they fixed the problem; leak in Senior housing; we need more resources; this is a step in the right direction and more support is needed

·        Karen has funds to send 2 other SFHA staff to camera certification course in Fremont

4.      DPH RFQ.  Annual budget of DPH that relates to prevention spending.  Categories: Capacity building, black infant nurses, BVHP environmental health (usually goes to HERC) – we would apply for this for a health educator position for SFHA to be housed in DPH Children’s Environmental Health Promotion Program.  Serve as an unbiased 3rd party to accompany property management.  OR could go out with DBI inspectors to write NOV’s or do follow up with tenant after inspection, but should still be connected to DPH. OR can be a connector/resource provider.  Can use an outside consultant or a city employee.  Committee favored a city employee.

6.  SFHA Outreach materials – PMC helped develop a flyer on how to stop mold before it starts.

7. Next Steps with SFHA – hearing may not be a priority at this point given the political climate.  Suggestion to have N. Boyd meet with Supervisor Maxwell to provide her with an update.

-$18K for Sparkle Bright not much data collected; Ask N. Boyd to update on stats of very bad or bad units.
