Attendees:  Peg Strub, Karen Cohn, Nan Madden, Gloria Thornton, Gail Herrick

       Welcome and Introductions—sign in & request time keeper (5 mins) – introduced Dory Lang from SF Health Plan.  Indicated that Cia Byrnes will be representing SFHP from now on.  SFHP will have a rep attending Clinical Committee meetings from now on.

Next SFAN Meeting October 12th

Oct 12th speakers -

Gloria suggested having those providers with experience working with diverse populations come and speak (Br. Burke, Dr. Bennett, etc.); New Guidelines

We want feedback on Newsletter at May 4th meeting

Anjali will edit and re-send flyer out with Map

Speakers should park in O’Farrell (Ask Karen if speaker parking can be covered, Peg will also look into it)

Required Asthma Coursework for Medical and Nursing Licenses

 

Peg spoke with Steve Fallonsby, President of CA Medical Society, The SFMS doesn't want to make recommendations requiring docs to take any specific courses. They want the docs to take whatever courses they want. David Nunez has an online course. 

 

 

Gail recommended having Mitch Katz encourage people to take online course

Gloria spoke with CA Breathing Epidemiologist who is willing to come to

Discharge and ER and pharmacy data.

 

Gloria will invite Meredith to speak at July committee meeting

·         Evaluation of effectiveness of a particular committee initiative

AE-C Exam Updates

 

Still have slots for 3-4 exams – new or retakes.  Karen will announce at meeting.

Write a letter to those who have taken the exam to acknowledge their time and effort and to get their feedback on the exam.  ATF can forward on recommendations to NAECB in the future.

Gail will call NAECB to find out when next iteration of exam will

·         65 participants trained take the AE-C exam
