Outcomes

I.                   Welcome/Review Minutes & Previous Meeting Outcomes

-Gloria set up an appointment with Kim Knox to discuss Community Committee

-Karen got involved in a formaldehyde coalition

-Extending ATF evaluation calls until July Planning Meeting

-Karen will arrange for DPH staff to train ATF on policy to be properly prepared for next legislative session.  Committees will need to educate Karen on bills to minimize work; Neil pointed out that Scott could check in with ATF/Karen in advance of session to get a sense of legislation we would like to keep an eye on.

II.                ATF Workplan Update

a.       Communications Plan Development

                                                  i.      Gloria, Karen and Anjali met with PMC on Monday

Agreed that first priority is target parent outreach.  Overarching theme is to highlight what “Parents/children with asthma deserve”

ii.      Other immediate priority projects:  related to schools, PMC developing an outreach tool for parents to reinforce importance of asthma emergency care plans;  After Friday June 9th meeting with SFUSD Facilities staff we can determine what outreach needs exist and will connect ith PMC to plan for appropriate outreach tools.

iii.      Anjali will be working on developing an “Our Children Deserve” list of rights for parents (later for adults)  (i.e Our children deserve quality care, etc.)

III.             Funding Grants and Linkage Opportunities Update

a.       DCYF Update – Anjali

Alicia will follow up with David Lo on youth leadership and funding for youth empowerment project.  Gloria suggested an individual from CYC, Hunter’s Point Family or Red Cross Youth Program, Vietnamese Youth Development Center.  Neil had previously informed that DCYF.

Margaret Brodkin was at Hunter’s Point Family Event.  Seems to be a real need to empower teens around their own asthma management versus their parents.  Possible opportunity for HERC to utilize advocacy model.

ii.      Asthma Educator Certification Course – vendor has informed Karen of people who have taken exam.  3 more slots available, trying to fill.  Peg and Karen might take the exam as well. Would also show support.

iii.      Plans for disseminating SFUSD medical forms and care plans – have been produced and will be disseminated over the summer.

iv.      SFHA mold remediation – Cameras are 99% approved and committee is developing plan for hearing with SFHA
