MINUTES OF MEETING

1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order by Task Force Chair Jody Sanford at 4:30 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

By motion of Mr. Yee, seconded by Mr. Miller, the minutes of the October 6, 2010 meeting were approved as written.

3. PUBLIC COMMENT

No members of the public were in attendance.

4. DISCUSSION OF VSTF REPORT DRAFT 6.0

The VSTF conducted an extensive review/discussion of the document’s draft recommendations, incorporating feedback from task force members in each of the three primary topic areas: Election Records and Audit Procedures, Balloting Systems and Services, and Models for Acquisition/Development and Certification. For the next meeting, members were tasked with continuing research to improve the recommendations as well as the “Supporting Analysis” section of the document.

5. DISCUSSION OF VSTF NEXT STEPS AND TIMELINE/ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING AGENDA
Members agreed that, in order to continue thorough review of the document and incorporate feedback, the November 3rd meeting would be an extended session from 4 to 8 pm. Additionally, members agreed that a special meeting might be necessary on November 10, if a meeting room is available.

Members also targeted bringing a draft of the VSTF report to the November Elections Commission meeting. Roger Donaldson was tasked with reaching out to that body to pursue arrangement. A public comment period on the draft document is also anticipated in November 2010.
