LOCAL YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS

Center for Juvenile and Criminal Justice

CCJJ is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce society's reliance on the use of incarceration as a solution to social problems.

Center for Young Women's Development

The Center for Young Women's Development started in 1993 as the Street Survival Project. They are grounded action research and ethnographic research that revealed advocacy and service gaps as well as historical and current obstacles facing youth serving organizations because they were run by adults.

CHALK/Youthline

CHALK is a growing Bay Area non-profit providing a range of youth services with a specific focus on youth employment and technology. Through their website you can access Youthline's database which has tons of great information on programs and resources for Bay Area youth.

Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth

Coleman Advocates works independently to change city policies and programs through advocacy, research, public education, and development of creative, cost-effective proposals on issues such as child welfare, health, juvenile justice, and recreation. Youth Making A Change (Y-MAC) is Coleman's youth run organization.

Health Initiatives for Youth (HIFY)

HIFY has one mission - to improve the health and well being of young people.

Homies Organizing to Empower Mission Youth (HOMEY)

HOMEY is a youth led organization which works with former gang members and local youth to further empower young people and provide them with resources and support for their talents.

JustAct

Just Act promotes youth leadership and action for global justice by providing a network linking students and young people to educational opportunities and to grassroots movements working for equitable, sustainable and self-reliant communities locally and globally.

Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center (LYRIC)

LYRIC brings lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth together to build a peer-based community that empowers them to end isolation; create a progressive queer youth voice; increase well-being and self-esteem; and change the communities in which they live.

San Francisco Conservation Corps

A job and academic training organization serving young people ages 12 to 24. Corps members develop their job and academic skills, leadership abilities and environmental awareness by completing outreach, conservation and community service projects throughout the city.

San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners

A grassroots organization that empowers communities and individuals with education and employment.

Youth Leadership Institute

A community-based institute that works with young people, youth practitioners and the systems that impact them in order to build communities that respect, honor, and support youth. 

Youth Space

YouthSpace is a new citywide youth-run center, providing entertainment, employment, business opportunities, leadership development and event space to high-school aged young people in San Francisco through program development, planning and piloting a business venture (café), youth leadership development and collaboration with adults and various youth organization in San Francisco.
