1. Call to Order and Roll Call


The meeting was called to order at 5:28 PM. Commissioners present: Madeleine Matz, William Juarez, Stephanie Li, and Luis Avalos-Nunez. There was quorum. Staff present: Leah LaCroix. There was no public comment.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)


Commissioner Li, seconded by Commissioner Matz, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

Commissioner Avalos, seconded by Commissioner Li, moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

A. Brainstorm and discussion of committee priorities

a. Update on Resource document for Peer Resources

Commissioner Avalos informed that he and William are still developing a resource document for Peer Resources at June Jordan School for Equity. There was no public comment.

b. Update on resolution for unaccompanied minors

Commissioner Juarez informed that he and Luis have experience scheduling conflicts, and have not been able to meet in person to work on the resolution. There was no public comment.

c. Update on CBA resolution

B. Discussion on draft Budget and Policy Priorities

The committee discussed their budget and policy priorities, and their work plan to have a complete draft for the commission’s Executive Committee on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. They agreed to work independently while completing their draft. There was no public comment.

C. Review current pertinent legislation

The committee reviewed Legislation Introduced at the Board of Supervisors’ April 19, 2016 meeting. There was no public comment.

7. Executive Committee Report


Commission Avalos reminded the committee to continue developing their budget and policy priorities. She informed that the commission is scheduled to present to the Board of Supervisors’ budget and finance committee on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. There was no public comment.

8. Staff Report


Staff informed the committee with updates regarding the upcoming Special Joint Board of Supervisors and Youth Commission hearing on the proposed legislation to lower the voting age to sixteen for municipal election. There was no public comment.
