1. Call to Order and Roll Call


Committee Chair Wu called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. Commissioners present: Michel Li, Joyce Wu, David Zheng. Commissioners Tardy: Emily Guo Commissioners Absent: Luis Avalos. There was quorum. Staff present: Allen Lu.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)


There was no public comment. Commissioner Zheng, seconded by Commissioner Li, moved to approve the agenda. This motion was approved by acclamation.

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

There was no public comment. Commissioner Zheng, seconded by Commissioner Li, moved to approve the minutes of March 26, 2015. The motion was approved by acclamation.

4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)


There were none.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)


A. ESL/ELL Survey with SFUSD’s SAC and School Health Programs

Angelina Romano, Program Coordinator of SFUSD’s School Health Programs, described her role in supporting the undocumented youth at our public schools. She specifically works with newly arrived Latino students in court proceedings.

Chair Wu reviewed the intention of the survey and Ms. Romano was supportive of the survey. She reminded the committee that making it as simple as it can be would be best when people have to translate it. The committee agreed to look into OCEIA’s translation services while Ms. Romano checked with SFUSD’s requirement to distribute the surveys.

B. Youth Town Hall Outreach

The committee worked on a flier and an evite. There was no public comment.

C. Budget and Policy Priorities Working Session

Commissioners reviewed their priorities and worked on final edits before the first reading. There was no public comment.

6. Staff Report


Mr. Lu shared Peer Resource’s invitation to commissioners to come up with five questions for Youth Vote. The committee will think of one to submit.

There was no public comment.
