This meeting is being held by teleconference pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 and the Fifth Supplement to the Mayoral Proclamation Declaring the Existence of a Local Emergency. During the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) emergency, the Visual Arts Committee’s regular meeting room, War Memorial Veterans Building, Suite 125, is closed. Meetings of the Arts Commission will convene remotely.

The public is encouraged to submit comments by emailing to craig.corpora@sfgov.org. This email address will be monitored until Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 12 p.m. All comments received by the deadline will be read aloud by Arts Commission staff up to the three minutes maximum allotted to each commenter. In the subject line of your email, indicate the meeting date and item number. If you do not specify an agenda item number, your emailed public comment will be read under general public comment. Note: if your public comment statement is read aloud by Arts Commission staff during an agenda item, this will count as your one opportunity for public comment on that specific item. You will not be able to raise your hand to make additional public comment on the same item if your statement has already been read aloud.

Oral Comment:
Public comment in regard to specific agenda items will be taken before or during consideration of the item. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commission on matters within the Commission’s jurisdiction and not otherwise on this agenda. 1. Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to increase Catherine Wagner LLC’s contract from $312,470 to an amount not to exceed $328,376 (an increase of $15,906) for the Central Subway Yerba Buena Moscone Station Public Art Project. The increase will cover re-fabrication of glass to accommodate changes in station architecture dimensions made after the initial fabrication.
 

2. Motion to approve the arts professional Astria Suparak as a panelist for public art review panels.

4. Golden Gate Park Temporary Installation

Presentation of the temporary art installation Entwined Meadow in Golden Gate Park’s Peacock Meadow.

Discussion and possible action: to approve the temporary installation of a series illuminated sculptures to titled Entwined Meadow in Golden Gate Park’s Peacock Meadow for a period of approximately 2 1/2 months with a possible extension after review from early December to mid- February pending procurement of all necessary approvals and the funding required for the project, in addition to arrangements for security night and day. This project would mark the closing element of the Golden Gate Park 150th Anniversary celebration and is designed to create an artistic experience for park goers, particularly in the evenings when daylight hours are short.

The San Francisco Arts Commission Visual Arts Committee Meeting will be held virtually due to public health emergency.

Meeting Procedures

1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting.

2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to 3 minutes.

3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.
