This meeting will be held in person at the location listed above.  As authorized by California Government Code Section 54953(e) and Mayor Breed’s 45th Supplement to her February 25, 2020 emergency proclamation, it is possible that some members of the San Francisco Arts Commission may attend this meeting remotely.  In that event, those members will participate and vote by video.  Members of the public may attend the meeting to observe and provide public comment at the physical meeting location listed above or online at https://ccsf.webex.com/ccsf/onstage/g.php?MTID=e5ad560ed57a4b09e725832b0d3d95ca6.  Instructions for providing remote public comment are below.

Written Comment: 
The public is encouraged to submit comments by emailing to art-info@sfgov.org. This email address will be monitored until Monday, April 4, 2022 at 12 p.m. All comments received by the deadline will be read aloud by Arts Commission staff up to the three minutes maximum allotted to each commenter. In the subject line of your email, indicate the meeting date and item number. Note: if your public comment statement is read aloud by Arts Commission staff during an agenda item, this will count as your one opportunity for public comment on that specific item. You will not be able to raise your hand to make additional public comment on the same item if your statement has already been read aloud. 

Oral Comment: 
Public comment in regard to specific agenda items will be taken before or during consideration of the item. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes per agenda item, unless the Chair has announced a different length of time at the beginning of the meeting. Speakers may not transfer their time to another person. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a written summary of their comments to be included in the minutes if it is 150 words or less. Staff will ask for real-time public comment before reading emailed comments to ensure all members of the public have an opportunity to comment in real time.

   7. Motion to approve Battery Bridge Street Mural, a mural design by Claudio Talavera-Ballon. The mural will be installed on Battery St. between Market St. and Bush St. in the new “Battery Bridge” public space. The mural measures approximately 83 ft. by 22 ft. The project is funded by Downtown SF, a community benefit district. The artwork will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  

   8. Motion to approve Showtime, a mural design by Serge Gay Jr., Simon Malvaez, Juan Manuel Carmona, Elliott C. Nathan, and Christopher McCutcheon. The mural will be installed on 298 11th St. and Folsom St. in District 6. The mural measures approximately 11 ft. by 80 ft., 17 ft. 4 in. by 22ft., and 17 ft. 4 in. by 58 ft. 4 in. The project is funded by the MOHCD Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District and Private Funds. The artwork will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  

   9. Motion to approve the design of the artwork Around the Way by Aaron De La Cruz to be installed at Balboa Park Upper Yard, located at the intersection of San Jose Ave. and Geneva Ave. The artwork is partially funded by the City of San Francisco. Mission Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) and The Related Companies of California (TRCC) will be joint owners of the affordable housing development and the artwork. Caritas Management Corporation (Caritas), a subsidiary of MHDC, will be responsible for ongoing maintenance. The artwork will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  

   10. Motion to approve the loan of Emmy Lou Packard’s artwork Morning in the Valley, edition 12/20, a linoleum cut print on paper, measuring 26 1/16 x 39 15/16 in. (San Francisco Arts Commission Accession Number 1972.43.12) to the exhibition Emmy Lou Packard – Artist of Conscience by the Richmond Art Center in Richmond, California scheduled for June 21, 2022 through August 19, 2022.  

   11. Motion to approve the twelve final designs by Gaia Weise for the 2022 Art on Market Street Kiosk Poster Series.  

   12. Motion to approve the project plan and theme for the 2023 Art on Market Street Kiosk Poster Series.

Meeting Procedures 

1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.
