The motion was unanimously approved.

4. Community Investments Director Report
Senior Program Officer Barbara Mumby gave the director report in Community Investments Program Director Judy Nemzoff’s absence. She announced that the fiscal year (“FY”) 2015-2016 guidelines were released in mid-August, with an application deadline of October 15. The grants staff went through a first round of general technical assistance workshops, with a final one at the African American Art & Culture Complex (“AAACC”). Following those workshops, there would be one-on-one technical assistance consultations available at AAACC, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, SOMArts Cultural Center, and the Bayview Branch Library.

Mr. DeCaigny also announced that Program Associate Weston Teruya was resigning from the Arts Commission to pursue his art practice full time. Mr. Teruya was a leader with the Cultural Equity Grants program, particularly as an individual artist. The committee expressed their thanks for Mr. Teruya’s work around grantmaking, particularly as it pertained to individual artists. Mr. Teruya said that in addition to practicing art, he would be doing some grantwriting. He also announced that he had a residency and exhibition coming up at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in November. Mr. DeCaigny said that there would be a posting for the 3459 position following Mr. Teruya’s departure.

Commissioner Melania called for public comment. There was none made.

5. 2015-2018 SFAC Review Panelists Pool
Ms. Mumby announced that there was a wide call for prospective panelists this year to collect more names and make the process more equitable. Over 130 people filled out the form to be part of the prospective panelist pool. The next steps were to collect a demographics survey to look at availability and diversity of skill and knowledge. The explanatory document for the motion included the prospective panelists’ bios.

Mr. DeCaigny said that each grant review panel is typically composed of up to five individuals. The grant review panel would make recommendations to the Commission, but the final approval of who gets funded was ultimately up to the Commission. He said it was a robust pool in terms of skills and diversity, and if approved the individuals in the motion would be part of the grant review panelist pool for the next three fiscal years.

Ms. Mumby noted that this list was not edited and everyone who responded to the call was a part of it.

Commissioner Melania gave the following motion:
