- JCDecaux Public Restrooms and Kiosks Project: Phase #3
Francois Nion, Project Designer, JCDecaux
Lisa Zhuo, Project Manager, Public Works
Bill Katz, Architect, SmithGroup
The team shared the revised design of the public restrooms, presenting the chosen stamped pattern metal they would use for the exterior along with the revised shape and rooftop. Next, the team presented the updated design of the small 3-sided panel kiosk, which was updated to have all rounded sides like the rest of the kiosks family. They showcased the drawings of the plan and elevations of both restroom and kiosks designs, along with renderings of the design on specific locations in San Francisco.
The Committee commended the project team for the long process they endured for the success and well design of this project. The Committee’s one question asked was in regards to the Wi-Fi component of the kiosks. The Committee wanted to know where exactly the Wi-Fi component was located on the kiosks. The team shared that it was actually stored within the fiberglass top. The motion was unanimously approved.
Motion to approve Phase #3 of the JCDecaux Public Restrooms and Kiosks Project.
- Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant New Headworks Facility Project: Phase #3
Victor Shih, Project Designer, SFPUC
Jignesh Desai, Project Manager, SFPUC
Chad Sanderson, Architect, MWA Architects
Tony Esterbrooks, Landscape Architect, Public Works
The team presented their updated designs based on the Committee’s comments from the previous review. The final design included keeping the zinc cladding component of the Grit Handling building to keep with the overall campus design, and framing the art wall with an 18” reveal between the art wall and surrounding concrete walls. The team then showed multiple renderings of the Headwork facility from varying perspectives. Lastly, the team reviewed the updated landscape design which included widening the sidewalk by eight feet, taking away parking, adding new cobble stone paving and the proposed landscape palette.
The Committee applauded the team for their design efforts given the parameters and restrictions of the project. They thought the solution with the art wall reveals worked well, and felt the cobblestone pavers were a good solution for the street area. The Committee suggested putting together specifications about tree maintenance for proper pruning. The motion was unanimously approved.
Motion to approve Phase #3 of the SEP New Headworks Facility Project.
