1. Introduction of Ordinance 161352, Health Code - Sale of Domestic Dogs and Cats [Discussion Item][Commissioner Fortier] Supervisor Katy Tang has introduced an ordinance banning the sale of non-rescue domestic dogs/cats in San Francisco. Supervisor Tang will discuss the ordinance.
    
2. Introduction of New Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit Officer. [Discussion Item][Commissioner Fortier] In December, Officer Ryan Crockett of SFPD was assigned to the Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit of SF Police Department. Officer Crockett will introduce himself to the Commission.
    
3. Appreciation of service for Sergeant Hicks [Discussion Item][Commissioner Fortier] In December 2016, Sergeant Sherry Hicks left the Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit of SF Police Department. During her tenure at this unit, she made invaluable contributions to the welfare of San Francisco’s pets and their guardians.
    

7. Old Business

1. Letter requesting clarification of SF SPCA/ SF ACC Partnership Statistics  [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Johnson] Discussion of letter requesting uniformity in reporting of numbers from SF ACC and SF SPCA. Currently the reporting methods are different for the two organizations. The Commission sent a letter in October to the heads of ACC and SPCA. This month, the Commission sent the same letter to each San Francisco Supervisor; Naomi Kelly, City Administrator, Cynthia Kopec, Chief Operating Officer of SF SPCA and Vicky Guldbech, Operations Manager at SF ACC.
    
2. Update on GGNRA, General Management Plan, restricting the allowable space for dogs  [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Tobin] In February 2016, Golden Gate National Recreation Area announced proposed rules that would limit the areas in which dogs are allowed on- and off-leash. These guidelines are the result of a fifteen-year process during which the GGNRA solicited feedback from park users and officials. The new rules are very restrictive. For example, at Chrissy Field, off-leash space has nearly been cut in half. The rules impact Marin GGNRA areas, too. The Commission sent a letter of opposition to the GGNRA about the new plan in May. This month, the GGNRA announced they would move forward with these restrictions, although timing of implementation is unclear.
