3. Approval of Draft Minutes from the April 21, 2017 Meeting [Discussion/Action Item]

4. Chairperson’s and Commissioners’ reports [Discussion Item]

Commissioners’ reports regarding recent activities in the community involving animal issues that have been discussed by the Commission in the past.

a. San Francisco Supervisors Rule Committee meeting scheduled for May 24, 2017. New Commissioners will be appointed (or re-appointed) at this time.


5. New Business

a. Funding of new Animal Care and Control Facility - [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Hansen] - Supervisor Tang and City Administrator Naomi Kelly
introduced legislation to create a gift fund to help fund the construction and furnishing of the new animal shelter. This would be in addition to the Certificate of Participation to cover any additional expenses for the shelter. The Budget and Finance Subcommittee met on Thursday, April 27th regarding this initiative.
b. SFZoo Euthanasia Policy and Procedure - [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Tobin] In March 2017, a monkey at the SF Zoo named Bernardo was diagnosed with cancer. The animal was euthanize on April 13. Since then, there has been confusion regarding SF Zoo’s policy on euthanasia.

6. Old Business

a. Commissioner’s Orientation Packet [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Rosenberg] In past years, new Commissioners received packets outlining responsibilities and protocols. The document has not been distributed in over ten years. The Commission will discuss measures to facilitate the transition for new Commissioners.
