Minutes of the Special Meeting Held
Monday, July 8, 2002
I. President Mendelson called the meeting to order at 6:06 pm
II. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Kenealey, Alix Rosenthal, Michael Mendelson, Brenda Stowers, Thomas Schulz. ABSENT: Richard Shadoian.

IV. Public Comment - NONE
V. It was discussed whether to go into Closed Session at this point in the meeting. DECISION: To go into Close Session
VI. CLOSED SESSION – Commission entered Closed Session at 6:08 pm. Returned to Open Session at 7:53 pm.
VII. Discuss whether to disclose Closed Session. It was decided not to disclose the Closed Session discussion pursuant to Ralph Brown Act section 54957.1 and Sunshine Ordinance section 67.12.
VIII. The Commission urged the Mayor to release the requisition for the Director of Elections so that the Elections Commission may appoint a Provisional Director. PASSED unanimously.
IX. The Commission approved a request for a supplemental appropriation from the Board of Supervisors for legal counsel and other legal costs to the Commission in the matter of Tammy Haygood’s appeal to the Civil Service Commission re: termination of employment. PASSED unanimously.
X. The Commission postponed the Acting Director’s report on anticipated expenses.
XI. The Commission postponed discussion concerning a possible request for a supplemental appropriation for lease of real estate.
XII. The Commission postponed the making a decision about urging the Mayor and the Board to take a position on SB 1975 pending a report from the Acting Director.
XII. There was no public comment.
