Elections Commission Meeting

DRAFT MINUTES

1. Call to Order & Roll Call

Commissioner Jill Rowe called the meeting to order at 6:01pm. PRESENT: Commissioners Richard Matthews, Rosabella Safont, Jill Rowe, Winnie Yu, Catalina Ruiz-Healy, and Charles Jung. ALSO PRESENT: Deputy City Attorney Joshua White and Commission Secretary Tachina Alexander.

2. Public comment on any issue within the Elections Commission’s general jurisdiction unless otherwise included in an item on this agenda.

NO PUBLIC COMMENT.

3. Approval of Minutes from previous meetings.

Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the Minutes of the December 18, 2013 Elections Commission Meeting and it was seconded by Commissioner Ruiz-Healy.
NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
The roll call vote was UNANIMOUS to APPROVE the minutes.

4. Officer Elections.

Commissioner Rowe opened nominations for President for 2014, and nominated Commissioner Matthews who accepted the nomination. Commissioner Yu nominated Commissioner Rowe, who declined the nomination. There were no other nominations.
NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
The roll call vote was UNANIMOUS to elect Commissioner Matthews as President for 2014.
Commissioner Rowe opened nominations for Vice President for 2014, and Commissioner Matthews nominated Commissioner Ruiz-Healey who accepted the nomination. There were no other nominations.
NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
The roll call vote was UNANIMOUS to elect Commissioner Ruiz-Healy as Vice President for 2014.

5. Public Employee Performance Evaluation for Commission Secretary. 

NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
CLOSED SESSION. The Commission met in closed session pursuant to Brown Act section 54957(b) and Sunshine Ordinance section 67.10(b). Closed session lasted from 6:15 p.m. until 6:20 p.m.
OPEN SESSION: Commissioner Matthews moved to not disclose any portion of the closed session discussion. Commissioner Safont seconded.
NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
The roll call vote was UNANIMOUS to not disclose any portion of the closed session discussion.

6. Possible discipline, up to and including termination, of a public employee. Number of employees affected: 1

NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
CLOSED SESSION. The Commission met in closed session pursuant to Brown Act section 54957(b) and Sunshine Ordinance section 67.10(b). Closed session lasted from 6:23 p.m. until 7:29 p.m.
OPEN SESSION: Commissioner Matthews moved to not disclose any portion of the closed session discussion. Commissioner Ruiz-Healey seconded.
NO PUBLIC COMMENT.
The roll call vote was UNANIMOUS to not disclose any portion of the closed session discussion.
