JUNE 6, 2012 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:40 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Mazzucco, Marshall, DeJesus, Chan, Kingsley, Loftus,
ABSENT: Commissioner Turman
Commissioner Mazzucco announced that the election of officers will be put over when all Commissioners are present. Commissioner Turman is excused tonight doing the AIDS Bike Ride. Commissioner Mazzucco also congratulated Commissioner DeJesus for being elected to the Democratic Central Committee.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ace Washington asked for more time to speak in regards to disrespect to the African American community in San Francisco.
Clyde spoke in regards to pensions.
Kim Carter, Union Local 21, representing criminalist, spoke in regards to concerns about road conditions at the crime lab route. (Documents submitted)
Representative Local 21, spoke in regards to an employee being hurt while on his motorcycle and spoke further in regards to danger to employees because of lack of phone reception and expressed concerns for crime lab employees, and asked that the Department provide a guard for employees.
Deputy Chief Cashman responded to concerns by Local 21.
Meesha Irizarry discussed concerns regarding the death of Kenneth Harding and a request for the video from Muni.

a. Chief’s Report

Review of recent activities
Deputy Chief Cashman, for Chief Suhr, and spoke regarding recent activities around the department: Carnival, 75
th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, Union Street Fair, Black & White Ball, and the visit of the President. Chief Cashman also spoke about the Mayor’s Hiring Plan.
b. OCC Director’s Report

Review of recent activities
Director Hicks announced that the OCC received an award for Excellence in Alternative Resolution Practices from community boards, Senator Leno, and Supervisor Chiu. Director Hicks went on to thank Donna Salazar for her work in mediations.
Ms. Donna Salazar addressed the Commission in regards to mediation and thanked the Department, the POA, the community boards, the trainers, and the staff of the OCC.
Director Hicks went on to report about complaints received, cases closed, pending cases, mediations, and sustained cases. The Director also reported on the Controller’s Audit Report. The Director also talked about the budget.

Commissioners’ Reports
Commissioner Mazzucco reported on recent activities and explained the cancellation of a meeting two weeks ago. Commissioner Mazzucco also spoke in regards to the recent Awards Ceremony.
Commissioner Loftus spoke in regards to the Awards Ceremony and in particular Officers Tursi and Griffin who was also recognized by the Office of the State Attorney General.
Commissioner Chan spoke in regards to arrests made of suspects in scams against the Chinese community.
d. Commission Announcements and scheduling of items identified for consideration at future Commission meetings
Inspector Monroe announced that on June 13
th the Commission will not meet and that on June 27th the meeting will be in the Tenderloin District.
