OCTOBER 10, 2012 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:35 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Mazzucco, Marshall, DeJesus, Chan, Kingsley, Loftus
ABSENT: Commissioner Turman
(Commissioner Marshall arrived at 5:40 p.m.)
PUBLIC COMMENT
None
Commissioner Mazzucco commended the Department for their work this past weekend during all the events in the City of San Francisco.
REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Chief’s Report
- Review of recent activities
- Update on the Department’s research and community outreach regarding less lethal weapons
Deputy Chief Tomioka, for Chief Suhr, reported on recent events that happened during the past week including all the events around the city. She also reported regarding recent Black Block demonstration. She went on to commend the members of the Department for their work this past weekend. Events included Fleet Week, Strictly Bluegrass Concert, Italian Heritage Parade, Giants and 49er games, Castro Street Fair, America’s Cup, etc.
Commissioner DeJesus commended the officers for their work this past weekend.
Commissioner Loftus commended the officers for their work this past weekend including the visit of President Obama.
Commander Ali gave a brief update on the Department’s research regarding less lethal weapons.
Commissioner Chan gave a brief update as to the format of the upcoming meetings regarding less lethal weapons.
b. OCC Director’s Report
- Review of recent activities
- Presentation of the Monthly Comprehensive Statistical Reports & Companion Reports for the periods January 1, 2012 through September 30, 2012 & January 1, 2011 through September 30, 2011 & Report on Adjudication of Sustained Complaints in September 2012
Director Hicks reported on cases opened, closed, and reported on mediation. Director Hicks also reported on adjudication of sustained complaints. Director Hicks also reported on recent events attended by the OCC.

Commissioner Mazzucco reported on attending the recent Retirement Ceremony, on attending the press conference regarding recent officer-involved shooting, and of attending the Italian Heritage Parade.
d. Commission Announcements and scheduling of items identified for consideration at future Commission meetings
Commissioner Chan asked that the CIT update be scheduled for Nov 7
th.
Commissioner Loftus asked the department to report back on outreach in regards to domestic violence in light of the recent reinstatement of Sheriff Mirkirimi
Inspector Monroe also announced that the Commission will meet on Wednesday, October 17
th, in the Southern District, starting at 6 p.m., in the South of Market Recreation Center, 270 6th Street.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Emile Lawrence asked about posting the public meetings schedules on Muni buses and newspapers.
Unidentified spoke in regards to the budget.
