SEPTEMBER 10, 2014 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:30 p.m.

PRESENT: Commissioners Loftus, Turman, Mazzucco, Marshall, DeJesus, Hwang, Melara

(Commissioner DeJesus arrived at 5:40 p.m. Commissioner Marshall arrived at 5:42 p.m.)

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Chief’s Report
- Review of recent activities

Chief Suhr reported on recent two homicides which brings the total homicides for the year to 26. The Chief also gave a brief update on crime statistics. The Chief also spoke of recent and upcoming events including the start of Fleet Week and emergency preparedness that goes into planning Fleet Week; the anniversary of 911; and the upcoming Police/Fire Mass on Sunday at St. Monica’s.

b. OCC Director’s Report
- Review of recent activities
- Presentation of the OCC’s Statistical Reports, Summary of Cases received in August 2014, Mediation of Complaints in August 2014, Adjudication of Sustained Complaints in August 2014

Director Hicks spoke of recent activities including attending the reception for Operation Genesis and the screening of “A Journey to Self Discovery.” Director Hicks then went on to present the August Statistical Reports.

Commissioner Loftus spoke of attending a play called “The Haze” which is about a woman who was raped and then had to wait for her rape kit to be processed by the crime lab. Chief Suhr then went on to update the Commission as to the status of the crime lab backlog.

Commissioner Hwang spoke of attending the Chinatown Night Out event with Captain Lazar and spoke of attending a meeting with Visitation Valley residents in regards to concerns around the community.

d. Commission Announcements and scheduling of items identified for consideration at future Commission meetings

Inspector Monroe announced that there is no meeting on the 17th. The next meeting will be in the Central on September 24th at the Gordon J. Lau Elementary School, 950 Clay Street, starting at 6 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Tony, St. Vincent DePaul, delivered a packet from the children thanking the Department.
Unidentified, 82 year old, spoke in regards how six officers treated him and how they accused him of being mentally ill and discussed concerns how he is still not able to return to his home.
