❖ REVIEW of Draft Minutes of SFVAC meeting of May 8, 2018 (action item)

2. Officers’ Reports:
a. President’s Report, SFVAC President Dwane Kennedy
Commissioner Wyatt stepped down (Mayoral Appointment)
Commissioner Campbell is resigning (Board Appointment)
b. Vice President’s Report, SFVAC Vice President David Chasteen

3. Old Business:
a. Follow-up discussion on “SFVAC Candidates Forum”
Comments we should do another Mayoral Candidate Forum for 2019 election
Need to conduct AAR between now – Olivieri will send out email survey
4. New Business:
a. Presentation by Bobie Hare regarding the June “Stand Down”
Will keep Commission posted on progress and action items
b. Nominations and Election of new SFVAC Secretary (action item)
Open nominations: Miller, Olivieri
Votes (hand count): 4 for Miller: (Miller, Noetzel, Kim, Barnickel), 5 for Olivieri: (Chasteen,
Campbell, Wong, Dacumos, Kennedy) with 1 abstention (Joiner)
c. Report on communications with the County Veterans Service Office
5. Communications: Commissioners report on Communications with the Mayor’s Office
and/or Board of Supervisors.
Supervisor Norman Yee is seeking our support in honoring Chinese American Veterans with Gold
Medal (~17,000) – the Board will be forwarding on to vote
Veterans Mental Health Summit (August 22 at WMVB)
6. Veterans Related Legislation: New or possible legislation affecting Veterans or Veterans Community
VA Mission Act – expand healthcare and privatize care
7. Honors Report and Moment of Silence: In memory of American Armed Service Members who have
made the ultimate sacrifice in all wars and conflicts, plus the passing of homeless veterans and
veterans who died while waiting approval of benefits requests and suicides within the veterans and
armed services community.
