Officer Reports:

  • President Olivieri – point of privilege taken to announce Mary Murphy as new secretary, will be onboarding and serving by January meeting. President Olivieri will step down as president in 2022.
  • Vice President Mansori – VP Mansori congratulated President Olivieri for a successful term
  • Secretary Martin-Pinto – Sec. Martin-Pinto congratulated Pres. Olivieri for successful term.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Legislative Committee – no report

Finance Committee – no report

Communications Committee – JROTC students are being recruited to assist with photographs and events to post on to social media

Events Committee – American Legion will plan Veteran Parade in 2022

Rules Committee – hiring of full time, paid secretary will require change in by-laws, will be presented in January for approval in February

            Ad Hoc Committee (SF Veteran Center) – no further update

Ad Hoc Committee (Veteran Justice Court Funding) – CVSO needs to be part of Veteran Justice Court to be an advocate on behalf of defendants.

Ad Hoc Committee (Below Market Rate program) – D4 Supervisor Gordon Mar has presented legislation to media, Land Use Committee, and has read it before board of supervisors. Mayor’s Office has until February 27 to complete Disparate Impact Report. After report is complete, there could be changes to proposal.

Ad Hoc Committee (Parks Legislation) – Committee is pushing for free parks for all veterans regardless of residency. Coit Tower is not part of free park legislation. 30 days after reading date, SF veterans can enjoy free parks, in June, there will be push to have free parks for all veterans.

  • met with staffer, provided update to staff

District 2: Sup. Stefani – Commissioner Miller

  • Sup Stefani is interested in Veteran Center and supports Afghanistan Veterans
  • BoS is interested in giving out special commendations to Veterans

District 3: Sup. Peskin – Commissioner McDonald

  • no report

District 4: Sup. Mar – Commissioner Wong

  • Working with D4 for BMR and park legislation

District 5: Sup. Preston – Commissioner Dacumos

  • SB9 is separate from BMR legislation

    • Cmr Martin-Pinto is voted to become vice president of VAC in 2022 with an 8-5 vote
