Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm

Present: Commissioners Miller, Noetzel, Marshall, Chasteen, Olivieri, Kennedy, Brauer, Barnickel, Dacumos, Ellis.

Excused: Commissioners Wong, Ishikata, Joiner, Flaherty, Weeby.

  • REVIEW of Current Meeting Agenda for approval (action item)

One change to new business (introduction of Tony Forbes to new business), 1st Chasteen, 2nd Brauer. As amended, unanimously passed (voice)

All required notices were reported on time.

Smashing success of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, in partnership with Aging and Adult Service Commission and Firefighters/First Responders, with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Mayor London Breed in attendance (and volunteering), and with over 1,000 volunteers from the community that together packed over 250,000 meals

    1. Veterans Honor Initiative

Nominations: Wallace Levin, Christopher Starling, Paul Cox, (Barnickel and Olivieri take lead) – Unanimously passed (voice).

 

 

 

 

  1. New Business:

 

a.   Tony Forbes, Department of Labor (information only) – Commissioners Brauer and Ellis will liaison with office

b.   Sam Lew, Coalition on Homelessness: Proposition C (information only) – $300 Million annually from Gross Receipts toward combating the causes of homelessnes

c.   Resolution to support Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2018 (action item) – 1st Olivieri, 2nd Barnickel, unanimously passed (voice).

 

  1. Communications:  Commissioners report on Communications with the Mayor’s Office

and/or Board of Supervisors.

 

None

 

  1. Veterans Related Legislation:  New or possible legislation affecting Veterans or Veterans Community

 

VA budget passed (over $200 Billion) – Commissioner Brauer to provide info in subsequent meeting.

 

  1. Honors Report and Moment of Silence:  In memory of American Armed Service Members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in all wars and conflicts, plus the passing of homeless veterans and veterans who died while waiting approval of benefits requests and suicides within the veterans and armed services community.
