Denise Senhaux

Denise Senhaux, a native San Franciscan was appointed to the Mayor’s Disability Council by former Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. in 2002.

She served a three-year term as Co-chair for both the Mayor’s Disability Council (MDC) and the MDC Disability Disaster Preparedness Committee. She presently is a Council member.

She is a passionate and dedicated advocate for disability rights. Her work on behalf of persons with disabilities inspired her to attend the University of San Francisco where she received a M.S. in Executive Masters of Rehabilitation Administration (EMRA).

Throughout her entire career, she was involved in disability advocacy rights efforts. During her 34 plus year career with AT&T Inc., and its predecessor companies, she found and implemented the first company-wide employee organization known as Bell Employees for Adaptability (BEA). The group’s mission was to maximize the opportunity for employees with disabilities to fully contribute to the success of the business. BEA was recognized by the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and she was appointed to the President’s Committee.

As AT&T went through mergers and re-organization, the company requested that she develop and implement another employee resource group: Disabilities Resource Access Network (D.R.A.N).  The group’s mission remained the same as BEA’s original employee group. When the final phase of the merger was completed, she combined her organization (D.R.A.N.) into IDEAL-Disability Advocates for employees with disabilities. She held various Officer Positions at both the national and local level, within these organizations.  She remains involved with IDEAL-Disability Advocates within AT&T.

In 2017 she became a member of the San Francisco Mayor’s Committee for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (SFMCEPD). Additionally, she currently serves as a member of the San Francisco Chapter of the California Council of the Blind (CCBSF).
