8          CEREMONIAL ITEM:  Presentation of the Mayor’s Disability Council Beacon Award to Victoria Tedder, Housing Advocate, ILRCSF.  The MDC Beacon Award honors the efforts of individuals who exhibit outstanding leadership and who are guiding lights in our community. This award honors Ms.Tedder for her outstanding work advocating for affordable accessible housing and for the rights of tenants with disabilities.

9.         ACTION ITEM: Resolutions Regarding Laguna Honda

           

A. RESOLUTION #2007-02:  Recommending Guiding Principles for Any Housing

     Built on the Laguna Honda Campus for Current or Potential Residents

 

B. RESOLUTION #2007-03: Recommending That General Fund Dollars Spent

     at  Laguna Honda Be Redirected to Community-Based Housing and Services

10.       INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION ITEM:  Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP) –Results from Survey of Muni Riders Who Are People with Disabilities or Seniors, and Project Update.  Presentation by Britt Tanner, SFMTA; and Liz Garcia, Controller's Office.  The TEP received nearly 400 responses to the survey, designed to better understand transit needs of seniors and people with disabilities and to help inform draft recommendations for improving Muni service.  For more information and updates, visit http://www.sftep.com, phone 415-701-4599, or email [email protected] 

 

11.       INFORMATION ITEM:  Access Advisors' Open House and Disability Arts Festival, October 6, 2007, 10 - 3. Presentation by Charlie Dorris. The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco invites the disability community to its 2007 Open House and Disability Arts Festival on at the de Young Museum. Mayor’s Disability Council
Accessible Meeting Information

 

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other disabilities.  The Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is accessible via a ramp and a wheelchair lift.  The other three entrances are accessible via ramps.  Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.  Please make your requests for alternative format or additional accommodations to the Council Clerk, Howard O. Wong, 554-6789 (V), 554-6799 (TTY). Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, N and T (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 & 49 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega.  Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

 In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to perfumes and various other chemical-based scented products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
