11.       INFORMATION ITEM:  Department of Elections November Elections Update    Presentation by Charles MacNulty.  Report on services to voters with specific needs, including information about accessible voting materials, voting by mail, curbside voting, use and availability of the Edge Accessible Touchscreen Voting Machine that allows voters with mobility or visual impairments to vote independently and privately; update on accessibility of polling sites, etc.

 

12.       INFORMATION ITEM:  Shake-Up San Francisco at 12 Noon, Tuesday October 21.  Presentation by Joanna Fraguli, Mayor’s Office on Disability.  Marking the 140th anniversary of the 1868 Hayward Fault earthquake, Shake-Up SF will consist of a coordinated series of disaster preparedness activities designed to engage City employees, members of the public, private businesses, schools, non-profits, and faith- based organizations.  Wherever you are at 12 noon on October 21st, that is where we are asking you to participate.  The disability community in particular should take a few minutes from their schedule and practice what you would do if an earthquake occurred.  If you have not already done so, please register with Alert SF – alertsf.com – to receive post-disaster text messages or emails.  For more information, please visit www.72hours.org - Be Prepared!!

Please note that no materials may be distributed for consideration or review by Council Members at a meeting, unless these materials have been provided to MOD Staff in electronic format at least two days (and preferably four days) prior to the meeting.

Accessible Meeting Information

 

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other disabilities.  The Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is accessible via a ramp and a wheelchair lift.  The other three entrances are accessible via ramps.  Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.  Please make your requests for alternative format or additional accommodations to the Council Clerk, Howard O. Wong, 554-6789 (V), 554-6799 (TTY). Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, N and T (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 & 49 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega.  Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

 In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to perfumes and various other chemical-based scented products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
