5.         INFORMATION ITEM:  Report from the Chair.

 

6.         INFORMATION ITEM:  Report from the Director of the Mayor’s Office on Disability; including announcement of Special Joint Meeting of the Mayor’s Disability Council and Small Business Commission Regarding SB 1608, which provides a New Approach for Access to Small Businesses.  To be held on Monday, November 30, 6:00-8:00, Room 400 City Hall. 

 

7.         INFORMATION ITEM:  Major Muni Changes Effective December 5th.  Report on 89 LHH replacement and overview of changes by Julie Kirschbaum, SF Municipal Transportation Agency.    

                 

8.         INFORMATION ITEM:  In Home Support Services (IHSS) Update – Outline of new restrictions on IHSS providers and recipients, and update on local and state advocacy efforts.  Presentation by Donna Willmott, Consumer Rights for Community Living (CRCL).

9.         INFORMATION ITEM:  San Francisco’s Better Streets Plan: An Update & Next Steps.  Presentation by Better Streets Plan Project Manager Adam Varat, Planning Department.   

 

The Better Streets Plan creates a unified set of standards, guidelines, and implementation strategies to improve how the City designs, builds, and maintains its pedestrian environment for all users.  The City has incorporated not only access requirements but principles of Universal Design.  This is an informational item to discuss revisions to the draft plan, next steps, and strategies for delivering Better Streets improvements.

10.       Information Item: Draft Ordinance Prohibiting Smoking in Enclosed Areas, Certain Unenclosed Areas, and Sports Stadiums. Presentation by Legislative Assistant Lin-Shao Chin, Office of Supervisor Eric Mar; Alyonik Hrushow and Mele Lau-Smith, Department of Public Health.

Accessible Meeting Information

 

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other disabilities.  The Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is accessible via a ramp and a wheelchair lift.  The other three entrances are accessible via ramps.  Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.  Please make your requests for alternative format or additional accommodations to the Council Clerk, Mabel Martinez, 554-6789 (V), 554-6799 (TTY). Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega.  Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street. 


In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to perfumes and various other chemical-based scented products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
