7.         INFORMATION ITEM: MHASF SOLVE (Sharing Our Lives: Voices and Experiences). MHASF SOLVE is a stigma elimination program that trains peer educators to share their personal experiences with mental illness, reducing the social barriers which prevent people with psychiatric disabilities from getting help. The SOLVE Speakers Bureau includes an array of San Franciscans who have first-hand experience with mental illness, and who share their stories of struggle, hope and triumph with the community.  Presentation by Michael Gause,  Director of Programs and Training, Mental Health Assoc S.F.

8.         CEREMONIAL ITEM:  Mayor’s Disability Council Awards for Excellence and Beacon Awards

THE MAYOR’S DISABILITY COUNCIL (MDC) AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE are presented to persons or organizations who have excelled in furthering disability rights for people with disabilities in San Francisco City Government Services, Activities, Programs and Facilities.

 

·        Disability Advocate Howard Chabner, Chair of the MDC Physical Access Committee:  Award for being an unflinching advocate for accessibility and common-sense universal design.

·        Marti Goddard, Access Services Manager, SF Public Library: Award for her longtime work to ensure that San Franciscans with all types of disabilities have full access to Library services, above and beyond the requirements of the ADA .

·        Mark Primeau, AIA, and the City of San Francisco Department of Public Works, Bureau of Architecture: Award for their successful collaborative project development and outstanding leadership in providing accessibility to 10 Public Health Clinics in the City’s Health Center System, and for helping to ensure the provision of more adequate healthcare to all of San Francisco’s citizens.

THE MDC BEACON AWARD is presented to persons or organizations who exhibit outstanding leadership and who are guiding lights in our community.

Consumer Advocate Alice Wong –  Award for promoting the expansion of opportunity for people with disabilities to live independently, through her policy work, outreach and advocacy, and as President of the SFIHSS Public Authority governing body.

9.         INFORMATION ITEM: Bicycle and Skateboard Enforcement on City Sidewalks. Presentation by Community Relations Units, San Francisco Police Dept.

10.       INFORMATION ITEM:  Clipper Sets Sail On MUNI.  Presentation by Neil Poling, Clipper Project Coordinator, SFMTA.   Beginning in November, people with disabilities who currently purchase Muni monthly pass stickers, must start electronically loading the monthly pass to their RTC card.  The Muni stickers will be discontinued.   For additional information, contact Clipper Customer Service at 877.878.8883 or go online to clippercard.com

Accessible Meeting Information

 

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other disabilities.  The Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is accessible via a ramp and a wheelchair lift.  The other three entrances are accessible via ramps.  Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.  Please make your requests for alternative format or additional accommodations to the Council Clerk Mabel Martinez, 554-6789 (V), 554-6799 (TTY), email [email protected] Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega.  Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to perfumes and various other chemical-based scented products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
