7. PUBLIC HEARING: Services and Programs for Adults with Disabilities and Seniors in San Francisco – What’s Working? What Isn’t? What’s Missing?

The Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) and The Mayor’s Disability Council are inviting public testimony on access to services that help people to live independently in the community; this includes transportation, housing, personal assistance services, home delivered meals, access to health care, hospital transition services, access to information, etc.

This Hearing will be an opportunity for adults with disabilities and seniors, as well as disability advocates, to share their thoughts and experiences about what is challenging about getting services and health care in San Francisco.

Introduction by DAAS Executive Director Anne Hinton.

Accessible Meeting Information

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other disabilities. The Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is accessible via a ramp and a wheelchair lift. The other three entrances are accessible via ramps. Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille. Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets. The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station). MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega. Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City in accommodating persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, please refrain from wearing scented products to MDC Meetings or when visiting the MOD Office. This includes perfume, scented lotions, detergents, or hairsprays, etc. Thank you for helping us to provide meetings that are fully accessible to all people with disabilities.
