6. INFORMATION ITEM: The Role of Adult Protective Services in Addressing Self-Neglect Among Elders and Adults with Disabilities. Adult Protective Services (APS) is a state mandated, county-administered program that intervenes in cases of adult/elder abuse, neglect, exploitation, and self neglect. APS Social Workers implement a variety of strategies to remedy cases of mild to severe self neglect. Presentation by Jill Nielsen, Adult Protective Services Program Director.

7. INFORMATION ITEM: San Francisco Public Library – Safe and Welcoming For All!
Background on the SF Public Library and Department of Public Health partnership, and the nationally-recognized model of an embedded social worker and Health & Safety Associates to reach out to people in need while at the library.Presentation by Karen Strauss, Chief of the Main Library and Leah Esguerra, LMFT, Psychiatric Social Worker located at the Main Library.

8. INFORMATION ITEM: Lava mae: Delivering Dignity One Shower at a Time. A pilot project using retired MUNI buses to provide mobile showers for San Francisco’s homeless population. Presentation by Doniece Sandoval, Founder & Executive Director.

9. INFORMATION ITEM: The Mid-Market Community Ambassadors Program. The Community Ambassadors Program provides a safety presence along the Mid-Market corridor, while also providing general assistance and street outreach on services and programs to residents, workers, visitors, and members of the public. Presentation by Richard Whipple, Deputy Director of Programs, Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs.

10. INFORMATION ITEM: TAPcare: A Private Pay Personal Care Assistant Exchange. A project of the IHSS Consortium, this referral service only lists trained and criminally screened providers and is currently offered at no cost to customers who need to hire Personal Care Assistants while on private pay. Presentation by Peter O’Connell, Manager of Online Services, In-Home Supportive Services Consortium.

Accessible Meeting Information

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. Wheelchair access is provided at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister streets via ramps. Wheelchair access at the Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is provided through a wheelchair lift. Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille. Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets. The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station). MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega. Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City in accommodating persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, please refrain from wearing scented products to MDC Meetings or when visiting the MOD Office. This includes perfume, scented lotions, detergents, or hairsprays, etc. Thank you for helping us to provide meetings that are fully accessible to all people with disabilities.
