1.    WELCOME, INTRODUCTION, and ROLL CALL.

2.    ACTION ITEM:  Reading and Approval of the Agenda.

3.    PUBLIC COMMENT:  Items not on today’s agenda, but within the jurisdiction of the MDC.  Each speaker is limited to three minutes.

4.    INFORMATION ITEM: Report from Co-Chair Supanich.

5.      CEREMONIAL ITEM:  Remembering Thu Phan.  Council members and members of the public are welcome to share thoughts, memories and stories of Thu Phan, a Berkeley disability advocate and a recent pedestrian fatality on Market and 7th Streets.

6.    INFORMATION ITEM:  The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act of 2014:  Where Do We Go From Here?  This presentation will discuss the recently passed ABLE Act legislation in California and how it can be used to help people with disabilities have more financial options and control.  Through case study illustrations, listeners will learn about ABLE account eligibility and be able to determine whether it meets their financial planning needs. Presentation by Stephen Dale, Esq., Dale Law Firm.

7.     INFORMATION ITEM:  Students with Disabilities at City College.  An overview of the supports and opportunities available at City College of San Francisco, (CCSF) for students with disabilities. Presentation by Geoff Brown, DSPS Counselor, City College of San Francisco.

8.    INFORMATION ITEM:  Beyond Accommodation:  Opportunities for students, faculty and staff with disabilities at San Francisco State University. This presentation is a brief overview of SF State’s efforts to provide opportunities for students and employees with disabilities to be successful, engaged participants in their education and work. It will highlight demographics, services and supports available, collaborations with campus partners, and particular achievements of SF State’s Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI).  Presentation by Nicole Bohn, Director, SF State Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC).

9.    INFORMATION ITEM: San Francisco’s Kindergarten to College Program. An overview of San Francisco’s Kindergarten to College (K2C) program, the first automatic and universal matched Children’s Savings Account (CSA) program in a public school system in the country, with funds designated for post-secondary education. Presentation by Carol Lei, Program Manager, Kindergarten to College (K2C), Office of Financial Empowerment, City and County of San Francisco.

10.  INFORMATION ITEM: Report from the Director of the Mayor’s Office on Disability.

11.  INFORMATION ITEM:  Report from the Disability Disaster Preparedness Committee.

12.  INFORMATION ITEM: Update on 2016 Youth Commission Priorities and Request for Feedback. Commissioner Bernick will give a brief overview of the Youth Commission's budget and policy priorities from

2015-2016 and recent work, and invite feedback and insight from Council Members.  Presentation by Anna Bernick, Youth Commissioner, Chair of the Youth Commission Civic Engagement Committee, Senior, Washington High School.

Accessible Meeting Information

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices.  Wheelchair access is provided at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister streets via ramps.  Wheelchair access at the Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is provided through a wheelchair lift. Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, the 49 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, 5-Fulton, 6, 7, and 21-Hayes. Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City in accommodating persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, please refrain from wearing scented products to MDC Meetings or when visiting the MOD Office. This includes perfume, scented lotions, detergents, or hairsprays, etc. Thank you for helping us to provide meetings that are fully accessible to all people with disabilities.

Per the Language Access Ordinance (Chapter 91 of the San Francisco Administrative Code), Chinese, Spanish and or Filipino (Tagalog) interpreters will be available upon request.
