1.    WELCOME, INTRODUCTION, and ROLL CALL.

2.    ACTION ITEM:  Reading and Approval of the Agenda.

3.    PUBLIC COMMENT: Items not on today’s agenda, but within the jurisdiction of the MDC.  Each speaker is limited to three minutes.

4.    INFORMATION ITEM: Co-Chair Report.

5.    INFORMATON ITEM:  San Francisco Department of Aging & Adult Services. The SF Department of Aging & Adult Services provides social services for seniors and adults with disabilities through programs operated directly by the Department and also via partnerships with community-based organizations. The DAAS Executive Director will highlight key services and provide an overview of future directions for the department. Presentation by Shireen McSpadden, Executive Director, San Francisco Department of Aging & Adult Services.

6.    INFORMATION ITEM: The SF Public Authority Today.  The current state of the Public Authority, our programs, resources and efforts to connect low income seniors and people with disabilities to qualified IHSS providers so that they may live healthier, happier and safer lives at home, engaged in the community. Presentation by Kelly Dearman, Executive Director, San Francisco In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority.

7.    INFORMATION ITEM:  San Francisco Police Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). The presentation will provide an update on the CIT Curriculum. It will also highlight the efforts of Comdr. Robert Moser, Metro Division, and his ongoing work with AASCEND on creating a training  video  for patrol officers on responding to crisis calls involving community members on the Autism Spectrum. Presentations by Lt. Mario Molina and Sgt. Laura Colin.

8.    INFORMATION ITEM: The Office of Citizen Complaints and its Work with Community Advocates and SFPD to Respond to Crisis Calls. The presentation will provide an overview of the Office of Citizen Complaints, its complaint and investigative process and its role in making recommendations to the Police Commission and the Police Department to improve police-community relations. The almost complete San Francisco Police Department General Order on Crisis Intervention Team response to individuals in crisis will also be highlighted. Presentation by Samara Marion, Policy Attorney for the Office of Citizen Complaints.

9.    INFORMATION ITEM:  Collaboration in the Mental Health and Criminal Justice System. The success of San Francisco's CIT program is an example of how criminal justice partners can step outside of their traditional roles to better serve people with mental health disabilities in our community.  Presentation by Jennifer Johnson, Deputy Public Defender, Behavioral Health Court.

12.  INFORMATION ITEM:  Introducing SignAll - the first automated sign language interpreting software. SignAll developed the first automated sign language interpreting software that translates American Sign Language into English and will launch its service in the US at the end of next year. The Budapest based company is a computer vision based Research & Development start-up having received funding this year from a consortia of international venture capitalists. Presentation by ​Zsolt Robotka, co-founder and CEO, SignAll.us and Nora Szeles, CMO, SignAll.us.

13.  INFORMATION ITEM:  GyroSet - Smart Wheelchair Controller platform.  Now Technologies has developed the first commercially available smart wheelchair controller integrating a number of assisted living functions from navigation through environmental control to speech synthesis, as well as featuring the GyroSet Glory wireless headset for wheelchair and computer control. GyroSet aims to enable users with high levels of injury to work, create and move again. Presentation by Mark Istvan, Founder and CEO, and Marton Juhasz, Founder and CTO.

Accessible Meeting Information

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices.  Wheelchair access is provided at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister streets via ramps.  Wheelchair access at the Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is provided through a wheelchair lift. Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille.  Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets.  The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station).  MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, the 49 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, 5-Fulton, 6, 7, and 21-Hayes. Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City in accommodating persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, please refrain from wearing scented products to MDC Meetings or when visiting the MOD Office.
