Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 4:06 p.m.

Roll Call: Present: Sterner, Knee (entered meeting during item 2), Nickliss

1.

Approval of minutes of May 6, 2003.

Minutes approved. (Nickliss/Sterner) (Knee Absent)

2.

Report on Orders of Determination and requests from Committee.

Member Knee entered the meeting during this item.

A written report prepared by Administrator Donna Hall was submitted at the meeting.

3.

Discussion of possible amendments to the Sunshine Ordinance.

  1. Require the taking of minutes in subcommittees of commissions

    Deputy City Attorney Llorente presented a memorandum proposing amendments to the language in Administrative Code Section 67.16 Minutes. Revisions will be made at the request of Committee members and brought back to the next meeting.
  2. Non-profit requirements

    A discussion was held regarding expanding Section 12L to include all non-profit organizations. Discussion will be continued to the next meeting.
  3. Penalties for non-compliance

    Member Nickliss gave a report on penalties for non-compliance. Discussion will be continued to the next meeting.
  4. Listing of compiled possible amendments

Deputy City Attorney Llorente will bring back to the next meeting proposed language for suggested amendments as discussed at this meeting.

Possible dates for community meetings

Member Knee recommended (1) putting together issues to discuss at community meetings after consultation with the Ethics Department; (2) putting together a package of information that could be presented to attendees at the meetings before setting meeting dates; and (3) evening and weekend meeting dates.

Deputy City Attorney Llorente will present statutory language regarding sections listed in Items 3 a and d for the next Compliance and Amendments Committee meeting.
