Hearing on the status of the February 22, 2011, Order of Determination regarding #10067_Charles Pitts against the Local Homeless Coordinating Board.

Complainant Charles Pitts and Respondent Alison Schlageter provided the committee with an update.

Public Comment: Jason Grant Garza said the Sunshine Ordinance is 20 years old and by now all City employees should know what it demands.

No further action was taken. Matter concluded. Without objection.

Hearing on the status of the May 16, 2011, Order of Determination regarding #11010-12_Jason Grant Garza v Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic.

Respondent Jason Grant Garza provided an update on his complaint. The Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic was not represented. No one in the audience spoke or presented facts in support of the Respondent.

Chair Costa announced that City contract requirements state that non-profits are only subject to Chapter 12L and Section 67.24(e) of the Administrative Code.

Public Comment: Charles Pitts said the contract should be reviewed, a City Attorney opinion should be requested, and the matter sent back to the full Task Force.

No further action was taken. Matter concluded. Without objection.

Jason Grant Garza said the City should not hand out money to non-profits who are not accountable to sunshine.

Committee Members’ Comments, Questions, and Requests for Future Agenda Items:

Mr. Rustom said the Shelter Monitoring Committee is requesting a sunshine training session to be held in July or September.
