1. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 3:25pm by Commissioner Jones.
Present: Commissioners Jones, Chan, Davidson.
Absent: Commissioner Hirano.
Non-Committee members present: Commissioners Deng, Quesada, Liang.
Staff: Lauterborn

2. Approval of Agenda (possible action)
Agenda was approved unanimously by acclamation.

3. Approval of Minutes (possible action)
Minutes were approved unanimously by acclamation.

4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda

6. Business (Discussion and possible action)
• Establishing a Health Education Task Force
Commissioner Davidson presented her proposal for a Health Education Taskforce in the San Francisco Unified School District. Commissioners discussed various ideas regarding the scope of the proposed taskforce.

• Homework Report
Staff presented Commissioners with copies of the Homework Effectiveness report, requesting that Commissioners share any feedback with staff by Monday April 7, 2010.

• Budget Recommendations
Commissioners discussed possible issues to include in the Youth Commission’s annual budget document.

Public Comment:
Tristan Leder, Student Delegate to the San Francisco Board of Education. Requested that the San Francisco Youth Commission include in its budget priorities that the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) should fully support the recently-created newcomer pathways at five SFUSD comprehensive high schools in response to the closing of Newcomer High School for the 2010-2011 school year.
Commissioner Davidson moved that the Committee include support for the SFUSD’s newcomer pathways; approved unanimously by acclamation.
Commissioner Jones moved that the Education and Employment Committee include the following points in the Youth Commission’s budget document:
• Urging each city department to support YouthWorks, per Youth Commission resolution 0910AL04
• Funding the development of a 10-year school-to-career plan, per Youth Commission resolution 0910AL03
• Urging the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to deappropriate $3.8 million from the Police Departments’ School Resource Officer Program to support other youth services in San Francisco.
Motion seconded by Commissioner Davidson. Approved unanimously by acclamation
