Meeting was called to order at 5:15pm.

A. Discussion and possible action re: Youth Commission membership on a LGBT advisory board with the Human Rights Commission. Presentation by Nadia Babella of the Human Rights Commission.
Nadia Babella of the Human Rights Commission explained the mission and purpose of the Human Rights Commission, citing that they were one of the first commissions to work with domestic partnership issues. The HRC is establishing a Youth Working Group to be a standing advisory committee to advise on LGBTQ youth issues. The advisory board is being established in response to statistics about LGBTQ youth in the SFUSD, and the fact that 45% of homeless youth in SF identify as LGBTQ. Commissioners Lobo and Castaing will attened the next meeting on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 5:30pm, at 25 Van Ness, Suite 800. A future goal of the HRC and the advisory board is to implement support services for LGBTQ youth enrolled in schools of the SFUSD.
B. Discussion and possible action re: Collaboration between the Youth Commission and the Adolescent Health Working Group in sponsorship and partnership of Peer Health Educator event. Presentation by Alicia Rodgers of AHWG.
Alicia Rodgers of AHWG proposed the Health and Wellness committee collaborate on Peer Health Educator Gathering on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Commissioners Erlikh, Davidson, and Castaing will be helping on the day of the event, Commissioners Lobo and Lau will be working with the Balboa Youth Advisory Board to create a survey, and commissioner Castaing will work on creating a flyer for outreach. All Health and Wellness committee members will participate, and Commissioner Lau will seek full commission endorsement on Monday, October 20, 2008.
C. Discussion and reflection re: Teen Dating Violence PSA created by Asian Alliance Against Domestic Violence. Recap by Commissioner Lau.
Commissioner Lau reported back to the Committee after attending and speaking at the AAADV press conference.

The Youth Commission meeting will be held in City Hall Room 416 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA. The closest accessible BART station is the Civic Center Station at the United Nations Plaza and Market Street. The Commission meeting room is wheelchair accessible. Accessible curbside parking spaces have been designated on the corners of McAllister and Polk, and Grove and Polk. There is accessible parking available within the Civic Center Underground Parking Garage at the corner of McAllister and Polk Streets, and within the Performing Arts Parking Garage at Grove and Franklin Streets.
If you require the use of an American sign language interpreter, a sound enhancement system, or a reader during the meeting, Calendars and minutes of the meeting in alternative formats; such arrangements can be made by calling Gillian Bogart at (415) 554-6446, at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.
