Minutes: Planning, Land Use, and City Services Committee

1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30pm. Commissioners present: Tsibulskaya, Erlikh, Marshall-Fricker, and Davidson. Staff present: Gillian Bogart
2. Approval of Agenda
Marshall-Fircker moved to approve the minutes, and was seconded by Tsibulskaya with unanimous approval.
3. New Business
A. Discussion re: Discussion re: request for youth leaders to participate in a planning committee to convene a Youth Summit to Take Action Against Global Warming
Tomas Lee presented his proposal to the committee and Commissioner Tsibulskaya asked questions about the specific role of commissioners in the Summit. Commissioners Tsibulskaya and Erlikh will attend the first planning meeting, once the date is confirmed.
Public Comment: Emily Adler of Global Exchange informed the committee that Global Exchange is working to put together an Environmental Youth Convergence, which will take place in June or May, but would potentially want to work together to avoid duplication of efforts.
B. Discussion re: Response to the Planning Commission's Bicycle Plan Project
The commissioners have no comment on this plan.
C. Discussion re: HOPE SF Projects in Westside Courts and Huntersview
Bogart, staff briefly spoke about the HOPE SF projects that are underway and in the planning phases. Commissioner Tsibulskaya will draft questions to ask staff from HOPE SF regarding accessibility and protecting the health of residents during construction.
D. Discussion re: City Budget priorities
This item was tabled for later discussion.
4. Unfinished Business
A. Discussion re: confirming a mission for the committee.
Marshall-Fricker created a mission for the committee "To effectively advocate youth in the areas of Land Use and City Services."
