    1. Youth Commission Retreat

The Retreat would be for EC members, convenors and YC staff. At the EC meeting on Tuesday, December 7th, the EC would determine the objectives for the retreat. The Commissioners proposed having the retreat on Sunday, December 12th. Some ideas about objectives for the retreat included:

      • Community building (games, etc.); Have fun
      • Review and better understand roles and responsibilities of officers
      • Develop plans: Outreach and Media & Public Relations
      • Make a thoughtful plan of policies and projects the Youth Commission takes on
      • Ensure committees are running efficiently

    2. Process for selecting at-large youth for Youth Commission Committees

The Executive Committee decided to have the committees decide who will be in their committee. They decided that final committee membership should be by January 10, 2000. Commissioner Barnes and Strohlin will make a flyer to recruit committee members by Friday, December 3, 1999.

    3. Proposal to outline roles for Youth Commission sponsored projects

Commissioner Barnes thought that a clear statement of responsibilities of the Commission and the partnering agency would ensure that all partners are clear on their roles. Barnes suggested that once the Commission takes on a project, the Commissioner interested in the project drafts the roles and responsibilities of the organizations. Also when individuals bring projects before the Commission, they should also bring a proposal of actions they would like the Commission to take.

    4. Training for Executive Committee members in their areas of responsibility

Commissioner Barnes suggested that Youth Commissionersfill out a form indicating what skills they offer to the group.

    5. Next Executive Committee Agenda
