3. Discussion and possible action re: Approval of the Minutes of January 3 &
13, 2000 meeting 1 min
4. Public Comment (A chance for people to give their thoughts on youth issues
or feed back. Each member of the public will be allotted the same number of

5. Staff Report: (Resignation of Commissioner Joseph Baxter, Computer Use in

A. Discussion and possible action re: A strategic outreach plan for the Youth
Commission presented by Jewnbug, Community Affairs Officer
B. Discussion re: Update on work completed by the Census 2000 intern to outreach
and ensure young people are included in the count.
7. Committee Report Backs (Each committee will explain what project they are
working on and check on the tasks done by committee members.) 20 min
A. Discussion and possible action re: Juvenile Justice and Public Safety Committee’s
recommendation to organize an event to develop ways to prevent crime
B. Discussion and possible action re: Housing, Transportation & Land Use
Committee’s recommendation to hold a lobby day to encourage state legislators
to support affordable housing policies (Please note that legislation has not
yet been chosen.)
C. Discussion re: Culture & Urban Environment Committee’s research
D. Discussion and possible action re: Diversity & Cultural Competency Committee’s
decreasing membership and the future of the committee
8. New Business
A. Discussion and possible action re: Forwarding youth-related legislation from
the Board of Supervisors to the Youth Commission. (Gloria Young, Clerk of the
Board of Supervisors)
B. Discussion and possible action re: Establishing a Youth Hall of Fame to recognize
the accomplishments of Bay Area youth. (Jesse Arreguin) 10 min
C. Discussion and possible action re: Convenor check in with committee members
for an update on research and tasks to be accomplished. The Commission has 6
committees and this is an opportunity for committee members to check in to ensure
tasks are completed.
