  3. Discussion and possible action re: Approval of the Minutes of February 22, 2000 meeting 1 min

  4. Public Comment (A chance for people to give their thoughts on youth issues or feed back. Each member of the public will be given the same number of minutes to speak.) 10 min

  3. Committee Report Backs (Each committee will explain what project they are working on and check on the tasks done by committee members.) 20 min
    1. Discussion and possible action re: Juvenile Justice Committee’s findings from the "Hear Us, Don’t Fear Us" event on juvenile crime prevention, intervention and rehabilitation.
    2. Discussion and possible action re: Education and the Workforce Committee’s decision to advocate for universal after care programs.
    3. Discussion and possible action re: Public Health Committee’s decision to organize a health fair to educate youth about the resources available to them.
    4. Discussion re: Update on Housing Committee’s Affordable Housing Lobby Day
    5. Discussion re: Culture & Urban Environment Committee’s prioritized project

    1. Discussion and possible action re: Presentation by Commercial Free Classrooms on eliminating commercials in schools
    2. Discussion and possible action re: Presentation by Christina Goette with the Violence Prevention Network about the work of the VPN.
    3. Discussion and possible action re: Presentation by Revitalizing Education and Learning (REAL) on their work and youth empowerment and education.
    4. Discussion and possible action re: Presentation by Elaine Shen with the Television Race Initiative on interracial conflict between African American and Asian American youth in the Western Addition/Fillmore
    5. Discussion and possible action re: Convenor check in with committee members for an update on research and tasks to be accomplished. The Commission has 6 committees and this is an opportunity for committee members to check in to ensure tasks are completed.
